Temporary Replacement for a Professorship in Production Engineering (W2) - Reference Number: MM-030V -

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill a 0.5 FTE position in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, effective September 1, 2026, for the

cover a professorship in Production Engineering (W2)

- Reference: MM-030V -

 

for a fixed term lasting the duration of the substitution, but no later than August 31, 2027.

The position involves serving as a substitute for the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, with a particular focus on the following areas:

  • Factory and production planning,
  • Production systems (including smart factories, digitalization, and simulation),
  • process control, process optimization, and material flow engineering.

Teaching responsibilities include lectures, seminars, exercises, lab sessions, and projects, as well as continuing education courses.

Where appropriate, the appointee may be required to teach classes / courses related to the field of appointment. The teaching units must be ensured university-wide.

The ability and willingness to participate in integrative, practice-oriented, and internship-related classes are required, as is the willingness and ability to teach classes / courses in English.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the appointee must independently carry out research and development tasks in the field of appointment, actively contribute to the internationalization of the university and the further development of the discipline, and assume responsibilities in academic self-governance. Furthermore, involvement in projects related to knowledge and technology transfer is expected.

The following knowledge and skills are required

 

  • a completed academic degree in the field of mechanical engineering,
  • comprehensive knowledge in the field of production engineering,
  • proven pedagogical aptitude demonstrated through teaching or training,
  • a particular aptitude for academic work (usually demonstrated by a relevant doctoral degree),
  • explicit teaching experience at the university level or in continuing education,
  • experience in applied research and knowledge transfer.
