"The pattern that connects"

In June, the 1st Systemic Symposium will take place on June 16, followed by a professional development day on June 17, under the theme “The Pattern That Connects” at the Görlitz Campus. One reason for this event is the long-standing and successful collaboration with the Institute for Systemic Work (ISA) in Chemnitz. For over 10 years, professionals and leaders in the social services sector have been completing systemic certificate courses at the HSZG.

Special guests at the symposium will be Wilma Weiß and Anja Sauerer, who are nationally renowned in the fields of Special Needs Education and trauma-informed education.

Afterward, participants can deepen their professional expertise in workshops led by faculty members with extensive practical and/or research experience.

The following workshop topics are offered:

• “Systemic Perspectives in Educational Group Work—‘Team Counseling’ with Classes as an Intervention Strategy”
• “Communication Patterns That Connect—Communication in Social Institutions”
• “Systemic Aggression Management”
• “Methods of Good Self-Care”
• “Why Do Young People Today Think and Act Differently Than in the Past?”
• “What Role Does Power Play in Daycare Centers, Preschools, After-School Programs, and Schools?”

On the evening of the professional development day, there will be a “business card party” featuring culinary treats.

On Saturday, during the professional development day, participants can attend one-day professional development workshops. There are four different topics to choose from, which will be offered if there is sufficient demand:

• “Creative Techniques and Tools for Systemic Counseling—Useful Additions to Your Own Toolkit”
• “Systemic, Solution-Focused Play Therapy”
• “Training in Self-Care Methods”
• Diversity and Awareness of Prejudice: “All Children Are Equal & All Children Are Special.”

The professional development day is aimed at interested professionals, including systemic counselors, systemic therapists/family therapists, systemic educators, systemic coaches and supervisors, and trauma educators/trauma specialists.
