"The unconventional thing about borders: You only discover them when you're on or over them." - An event tip.
Burnout is not an illness, burnout is rather a kind of risk condition, Herbert Rebscher (CEO of DAK-Gesundheit) once said. A state of risk is the end of a journey to the limits. What may sometimes be appealing in youth becomes a health problem in the long term. The unconventional thing about limits: You only discover them when you are at or over them.
We go even further and ask: isn't burnout actually a healthy reaction to ever-increasing acceleration and work intensification? You might be thinking: now comes the song about work-life balance and mindfulness.
But are we really paying attention to anything? Or are these stories about better self-care just all too readily believed platitudes that we use to gloss over our messed-up race track lives? Doesn't wellness itself become a racetrack: faster and faster, even more relaxed? If someone gets out of step or falls off the hamster wheel completely, don't we say they haven't done enough for themselves?
A self-deceptive vicious circle? At the very least!
Don't worry, we don't just deliver scientific lectures. As with the previous event "Sustainability and Leadership", our aim is to hold discussions on very practical questions (this time: "How much work does a person need?"), enriched with scientific observations and sometimes heartfelt polemical points. We take apart the current concept of health and throw a few sad verses at the Protestant work ethic. We talk about doctors who write everyone who can barely walk as "fit for use". We ask you what real pleasure is. We analyze why many people, shortly before they die, regret one thing above all - having worked too much. And if you like, you can question your priorities with a few short and instructive exercises.
In short: we will discuss important questions about work and life with you. Let's go!
