Study trip to Zittau

On March 18 and 19, a student delegation from our partner university, the "Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University" in Ternopil, Ukraine, visited Zittau and Görlitz. The partnership has been in place since 2005, and we are very pleased that contact has been reestablished once again.

The geography students were traveling in Germany as part of a study trip funded by the DAAD. Specifically in the field of tourism geography, the Bachelor students in their later academic semesters, as well as some master’s students, wanted to gain experience in this field and learn more about the educational programs in Germany.

In Zittau, the head of Academic Administration gave them an overview of the structure and organization of the university. This was complemented by a few lab tours, and in Görlitz, they participated in a joint seminar with students from the Tourism program led by Prof. Pflicke. The cultural program included a short city tour of Zittau as well as a special tourist highlight: the “Große Zittauer Fastentuch.”

During the discussion, some of the students expressed great interest in continuing their studies at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences at the master’s level. We look forward to welcoming some of them to our university to pursue their studies in the future.
