The
Akademische Chor der Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz e.V
. is back from a 10-day choir trip to Krnov (Jägerndorf) in the Czech Republic. The town lies on the Czech-Polish border at the foot of the Jeseníky Mountains and is known above all for its long tradition of organ building. The choir performed four concerts of mainly sacred vocal music in Krnov and the surrounding area. For the first time, the accompanying choir soloists took on several solo parts in the program. The response to the concerts was consistently positive, and two new partner choirs were also acquired, who may be invited to Zittau as early as 2016. In addition to the regular rehearsals, there was plenty of time to explore the region. The choir spent the night in a monastery complex in the center of the city, was allowed to use the communal kitchen and sit around the campfire in the monastery garden in the evening. As a thank you for their hospitality, the university choir accompanied the Sunday church service with music. It was a wonderful summer concert trip that will live long in the memory! We would like to thank the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Ford car dealership in Zittau for providing two minibuses! This made it possible to plan the arrival and departure as well as the day trips spontaneously and without complications.
Rehearsals for the new semester begin on October 6. A lot of work awaits the singers: the Mozart Requiem with orchestral accompaniment, outstanding soloists and three partner choirs will be performed in the Johanniskirche in Zittau on November 22. (18:00, admission: 25 euros) www.neithardbethke.de
