Peace is the indispensable foundation

The Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Alexander Kratzsch, condemns the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops and is concerned about long-standing academic ties:

The HSZG has maintained long-standing cooperative relationships with Ukrainian universities, such as Odessa Polytechnic State University, Ternopil National Pedagogical University, and Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University. Good academic ties also exist with Russia and many other countries.

“The international academic community is a valuable good that must be preserved at all costs. When people learn, teach, and conduct research together across national borders, vibrant relationships emerge that contribute significantly to international understanding,” the Rectoremphasizes with regard to international academic relations. Now the focus is on active solidarity: “At this moment, we are all called upon to provide direct support to the Ukrainian people. The HSZG will do its part, within the limits of its capabilities, in collaboration with other organizations.”
