Champagne reception in honor of Karin Hollstein
On September 15, the Chancellor of the HSCG celebrated her 40th anniversary of service.
It was a very special birthday. On September 15, 2021, the Chancellor of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Dipl.-Jur. Karin Hollstein, celebrated not only her 63rd birthday but also her 40th anniversary of service.
It was an extraordinary occasion marked by many reflections on the past. After obtaining her law degree at Karl Marx University in Leipzig, Ms. Hollstein began her professional career in 1981 as a research assistant at the Zittau University of Engineering.
From 1985 to 1996, she served as legal counsel at what was then the Zittau University of Technology before assuming the position of Head of Human Resources/Legal Counsel and being elected Chancellor of the HSZG for the first time in 2007. She has now held this office for 14 years.
In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Alexander Kratzsch highlighted the Chancellor’s professional achievements and spoke about her impressive career. Alongside him, the guests at the champagne reception held in her honor included the university’s deans, Jenny König, Head of the Treasury Office & Project Administration, and Christoph Matthias Duscha, Head of Human Resources and Legal Affairs.
Karin Hollstein gladly accepted the good wishes and congratulations and shared a few anecdotes in a relaxed atmosphere. Among them were memories of particularly challenging times, such as the period of German reunification, the drafting of the Structural Act, and the floods of 2010.
The move to Building Z I on the Zittauer Campus will also remain in her memory for a long time, as will the shared experiences with the various Rectors during her 40-year career. Her time as head of human resources was good preparation for the chancellor’s office, a role she continues to fulfill with great joy and enthusiasm.
