The Saxony State Conference on College Sports organizes the
Saxon College Championships (
SMH) annually in 17 sports. This year, Leipzig hosted the basketball competition (women’s and men’s). A total of seven universities were represented by their teams. Among them were the University of Leipzig, TU Dresden, TU Chemnitz, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, HTWK Leipzig, TU Freiberg, and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. There, our university team made it to the third-place game. The HSZG team prevailed with a score of 45 to 29, securing third place at the Saxon College Championships. In the final, the team from
the Technical University of Dresden ultimately
defeated the team from Mittweida University of Applied Sciences with a score of 45 to 35. The 2016 Saxon University Basketball Championships will take place in Görlitz in cooperation with the Görlitz basketball club GBC Squirrels. We congratulate our basketball team and look forward to the next competition in Görlitz.
