Public Climate School at the HSZG

The new college group "Students for Future HSZG" invites you to participate in an online educational program focused on the climate crisis and climate justice.

Whether they’re heads of state, entrepreneurs, or students—everyone agrees: We want to and must protect the climate! But how can we achieve this goal? What strategies are needed to tackle environmental crises? What factors can we, as humanity, influence, and what are the consequences of the actions we choose to take?

To effectively combat global warming and the associated ecological collapse, we must know and understand our environment. This requires educational opportunities that are freely accessible to everyone. This is where the Public Climate School comes in.

What is the Public Climate School?

The Public Climate School (PCS for short) is an educational program launched by Students for Future. In a 5-day program, representatives from various sectors of society take the floor to share their knowledge and experiences. This opens up different perspectives on the climate crisis and fosters discussion of potential solutions. In addition to a morning program aimed directly at high school students, the PCS curriculum covers topics such as society, economics, politics, art, and culture. From lectures and interactive workshops on climate justice to self-care and awareness sessions, there’s something for everyone.

How do I participate?

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the PCS will take place exclusively online this semester. You can access the livestream via the website https://studentsforfuture.info/public-climate-school/. On the site, you’ll also find informational materials about Students for Future and the PCS program. Customize your schedule and tune in to the topics that are close to your heart.

University group "Students For Future HSZG"

Students for Future is a working group of Fridays for Future. Students from various universities in the German-speaking world are active in this working group. Based on scientific findings, they recognize the climate crisis as an existential and massively unjust global threat to people and societies worldwide. They advocate for a livable future for everyone and for climate justice.

Since this winter semester, a “Students for Future” campus group has also been founded at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
