The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management, is seeking to fill a part-time position (30 hours/week) effective August 1, 2024, as
Laboratory and Teaching Assistant – Model-Making Laboratory (m/f/d)

The job holder's (m/f/d) responsibilities include the following:
- Managing the model-building workshop, in particular:
- Preparing and conducting classes / courses in model-making with a focus on building structures,
- Supervising and guiding students in their model-building work in the lab,
- Training students in the safe use of machines and tools, Supervising 3D printers, plotters, and laser cutters,
- Ensuring order and safety in the lab, including the upkeep and maintenance of the lab and its equipment,
- Conducting additional classes / courses, e.g., in the fundamentals of building science, architectural history/architectural styles, historic preservation, and design,
- Participation in the faculty’s academic self-governance and public relations activities
- Assisting with student final dissertations and research projects
- Assisting with the preparation and design of exhibitions and presentations, as well as
- photographic work, including digital editing.
The following knowledge and skills are required
- A completed college degree related to the above-mentioned area of responsibility, such as architecture or engineering, or comparable knowledge and experience; or, if applicable, a master craftsman certification with a relevant connection to model making (e.g., master model maker),
- Expertise in design, layout, and model making,
- Expertise in the safe operation of the necessary equipment,
- manual and experimental skills, as well as practical professional experience,
- Didactic and pedagogical skills.
We expect you to have
- an enthusiasm for building design and architecture as well as for photography,
- a strong commitment to staying abreast of new developments in the field and the ability to adapt training content to changing entry requirements,
- a willingness to take the initiative and be creative in contributing to new tasks and content,
- an interest in academic research,
- an independent and team-oriented work style.
Compensation is based on the TV-L Pay Schedule (Appendix A to the TV-L). If the candidate meets the personal requirements and holds a relevant college degree, placement in pay grade 11 of the TV-L is provided for. If the candidate holds a relevant master craftsman’s certificate and meets the other listed requirements, placement will be in a pay grade up to 9a, with the job description adjusted in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
