On April 27, anyone interested can give their garments a second life.
"You can argue about taste, but you can't argue about human rights"... according to the Fairtrade Germany campaign "Change Fashion - Choose Fairtrade!".
Every year in April, the international Fashion Revolution Week commemorates the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory (Bangladesh) in 2013. Over 1,100 people lost their lives in this disaster. There was great consternation, but little has changed. The global debate about the abuses in the textile industry has brought some progress, but the price war in the fashion industry continues to prevent global improvements. A new fashion collection still appears in the stores every two months and the majority still opt for fast fashion shirts in everyday life, even though nobody actually wants to support exploitation.
Buying fair trade products and thus setting an example against child and forced labor, low wages and other human rights violations in textile production is a good way to campaign for change in the textile industry.
Every German buys around 60 new items of clothing a year, while the amount of time they wear them has halved in the last 15 years. According to surveys, almost everyone has items of clothing in their wardrobe that have never been worn. We now want to turn these wardrobe keepers into new favorites. How? By swapping them.
The FSR-N and the environmental team invite you to a clothing exchange on April 27 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. in House Z IVb Room 0.01 in Zittau.
How does it work?
When and where can I drop it off?
But I am based in Görlitz, what now?
