Lausitz companies on the way to climate neutrality

The Upper Lusatia Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Network (EEKN-OL) will be the first official network established as part of the Germany-wide initiative “Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks.”

The Upper Lusatia network has been in existence since 2016 and is now in its third phase. The network has grown steadily: Currently, 14 companies have joined forces in the EEKN-OL.

Since its inception, the network has been technically led and facilitated by the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and supported by the Saxon Energy Agency (SAENA) GmbH and the Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). While the thematic focus in the first two phases of the network was on energy data and metrics, energy technology, and energy management systems, the companies will now also embark on the path toward climate neutrality.

Under the motto “More successful together!”, the network companies met at the end of December for a digital kick-off workshop to identify new approaches to decarbonization for the future. These include both the preparation of greenhouse gas inventories and the development of climate strategies for implementation within the companies.
