On January 13, 2023, the Children's Academy, an offer in the context of lifelong learning at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, made its first guest appearance at the Makerspace Geistesblitz in Löbau. The open workshop aims to sensitize young people in particular to future technologies and enable them to successfully implement their own DIY projects.
In cooperation with our university, a very special event entitled "3D printing and augmented reality: experiencing the future up close" was held specifically for primary school children from the region. A total of forty children were able to experience 3D printing live and experience augmented reality with modern data goggles.
Daniel Winkler and Kazimierz Przybysz from the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management demonstrated the opportunities offered by augmented reality, which allowed all the children to experience virtual space in reality for themselves. In the second part, Löbau high school students Alexander, Hannes and Leon demonstrated the possibilities of 3D printing.
"Experiencing thefuture up close and helping to shape it" is our approach, according to Professor Sophia Keil, Vice-Rector Education and International Affairs, who was also present.
Special thanks go to the Löbau lebt e. V. association, in whose premises we were able to host the children's academy.
The "Kinderakademie-zu-Gast" aims to publicize interesting educational offers from the university in Upper Lusatia. The current program of the children's academies is available at www.hszg.de/kinder.
