KIA brings partners to the table

On February 1, 2018, representatives from companies, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), university staff, and dual-track students met for the second time at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The KIA Training Consortium, which oversees the dual degree program at the university, hosted the workshop “
: ‘KIA (sandwich-style) Degree Course: Opportunities for the Future.’” The goal of the workshop series is to further develop the successful KIA (sandwich-style) degree course model amid constantly changing conditions.

In three working groups, the topics “Curriculum and Working Life,” “Program Structure and Skilled Worker Training,” and “KIApro—a continuing education program for experienced skilled workers” were discussed in a very lively and constructive manner.

For all partners, close collaboration in areas ranging from applicant management and initial and continuing education to research cooperation is of great value. Following the workshop, the company representatives were happy to take the opportunity to tour the laboratories of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and to take a guided tour of the new Fraunhofer Plastics Center Upper Lusatia.
