The Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia) sees itself as a contact area between the European Union and China. How this function can be performed better in the future and how the Eurasian Economic Union can benefit from this as a whole was discussed at a conference in Almaty on November 6 and 7, 2015. This conference was organized by the Kazakh Academy of Economic Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow University and the Institute of Financial Economics under the Russian President.
The main conclusion was that the situation between the EU and East Asia, as the two economically strongest regions in the world, offers very good opportunities for bilateral economic development of the individual countries as well as for the development of the "new Silk Road" as a promising economic route.
Prof. Dr. oec. h. c. Roland Giese was presented with his certificate as a member of the Kazakh Academy of Economic Sciences during the meeting.
