International marketing conference in St. Petersburg

On current topics of the global interaction of marketing activities between technology and business

25 years ago, Prof. Dr. Georgie L. Bagiev founded the first Russian marketing chair at the first-ranked UNECON State University of Economics in Saint Petersburg. Together with the Russian Central Bank, the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the International Academy of Higher Education and the TU Braunschweig , the UNECON Marketing Faculty therefore organized an international conference for academics and practitioners from 10-12 September 2015 to mark the anniversary.

Prof. Dr. Clemens Renker from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences had the honorable invitation to open the conference with the keynote speech on the topic of "Sustainable success drivers in marketing".

The 174 registered international academics and managers then spoke and discussed in plenary sessions and in three working groups about currently relevant topics relating to the global interaction of marketing activities between technology and business, also against the background of digitalization, Industry 4.0 and the "Internet of Things".

In his marketing textbooks and numerous publications, Prof. Bagiev has not only methodically deepened the Western marketing paradigms of, for example, the German marketing "nestor" Prof. Meffert and international Prof. Kotler, but, driven by the great transformation in Russia, has expanded them to include the perspective of the holistic interaction of marketing activities of market players.

This is where Prof. Renker's integrative marketing approach as a designer and transformer of business models, which has been pursued since the 1980s, meets Prof. Bagiev's holistic understanding of marketing.
