In dialog with successful engineers

The cooperative event offered personal discussions in an informal atmosphere for exchanging experiences.

The first Dialogue Evening of the VDE University Group and the Electrical Engineering Student Council took place on 29.10.2019 in the Salzhaus in Zittau. 

The invitation to the informal event format was accepted by 39 students of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering to engage in personal discussions with experienced engineers. The evening's discussion partners were Dr. Ralf Bergmann (High Volt), David Havlat (Havlat Präzisionstechnik) and Gunar Schmidt (Stadtwerke Jena Netze). The evening was moderated by Marcus Wöckel, KIA pro student for electrical energy systems at Stadtwerke Jena.

"With this event, we want to give prospective engineers and high school graduates the opportunity to be inspired by the experiences of successful engineers and promote intrinsic motivation." (vde.com) 

Topics of the dialog evening:

  • The challenge & Experiences from engineering studies,
  • Perspectives & Requirements for young graduates in professional life and
  • Work-life balance and time management as well as
  • Career and family.

The evening came to a relaxed close with in-depth discussions in individual group rounds with snacks and drinks. The newly founded VDE University Group Zittau and the Electrical Engineering Student Council were also in high demand among the participants and presented their current projects and topics. The participants expressed their thanks for the lively exchange and would like to see more events of this kind.
