Together for more climate protection!

The HSZG invites you to develop a new climate protection concept to promote sustainable university operations.

Climate catastrophes, uninhabitable areas and extinct animal and plant species. Ongoing climate change poses major problems and challenges for our and future generations. In addition, we are dependent on supplier countries, which also provide reasons for active climate protection and a sustainable way of life due to rising commodity prices.

"To counteract this development, careful use of our resources is essential," Florian Reß is certain. Together with Annekathrin Kluttig, he forms a new climate management team at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Both see sustainability and effective environmental protection as a key task in mitigating future climate problems.

"As a research and teaching institution, we want to lead the way as a positive role model and pioneer and face the difficulties of tomorrow today," adds Annekathrin Kluttig.

Both are currently working as a project team on a comprehensive climate protection concept for both university locations. This concept is intended to serve as a strategic decision-making basis and planning aid for all future activities at the university and to anchor climate protection as a cross-sectional task in the long term. Through short, medium and long-term measures and optimizations, the university should effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the future and make its own contribution as a climate-neutral university.

"Of course, qualitative research and teaching operations always come first and must not be impaired in the long term by the climate protection measures developed," says Florian Reß. The initial aim is to incorporate all requirements and necessary aspects from all areas. "This is why we are focusing in particular on close cooperation and communication with all university stakeholders," explains Annekathrin Kluttig. This is the only way to ensure that all requirements and processes are taken into account and optimized in the best possible way.

Together towards an optimal climate protection concept!

The climate management team cordially invites all students and HSZG employees to the first internal university information event on the new climate protection concept:

On 05.04.2022 at 16:00 online via: https://bbb.hszg.de/b/ann-c28-lvv-yoz or directly on site, at Campus Zittau: Theodor-Körner-Allee 8, House Z IV b, Room 1.01.

The team will:

  • introduce themselves personally,
  • explain all the relevant aspects of the project and
  • inform about future measures and activities.
  • They will also be happy to answer any questions, comments and ideas.
