Together through structural change
How we can support local businesses.
These are not easy times for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They must navigate the balancing act between day-to-day business, the additional burdens caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and ensuring the long-term viability of their companies, which is being challenged by structural change in Lausitz.
But SMEs are not facing these challenges alone. As the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, we can offer a wide range of support options. Some of these were presented and discussed at the online event “Treffpunkt Wirtschaft” on May 18, 2021. Together with the Chamber of Crafts, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the city of Weißwasser, and HSZG, interested local businesses were provided with a concise overview of ongoing projects that offer concrete opportunities for companies. In addition, Wirtschaftsregion Lausitz GmbH presented funding opportunities, and LEAG showcased strategic projects.
On behalf of the HSZG, we presented three opportunities for businesses and regional stakeholders. From joint research on natural-fiber-reinforced plastics to energy systems and 3D printing of metals, there are a wide variety of potential areas for collaboration:
- Collaboration with the LaNDER³ network(Henriette Uhlig)
- Submitting a project proposal to Lausitz - Life & Technology (Leonie Liemich)
- Use of the CELSIUZ lab for workshops, coworking, and networking (Martin Kunack)
What all participants in this event have in common is their desire to further develop and advance the Lausitz region. A key factor in achieving this is knowing what other stakeholders in the region are doing and where opportunities for collaboration and support exist. Streamed live from the TELUX in Weißwasser, the event provided the perfect opportunity to do just that.
This was the second time the event was held, and it is planned to be offered regularly in the future.
