While the first event on October 10 was still more of an insider tip, the ETK was sold out to the last seat on the second date in November.
The event series "ETK GOES JAZZ", which was launched by Friedrich Wodarczack, Head of the Energy Technology Cabinet (ETK), has been taking place once a month since October. Initially limited to three events, there are signs that demand will increase, meaning that jazz can also be expected at the ETK next year.
The evening, intended for students and employees of the university, is always dedicated to a so-called tribute. While the focus at the opening was on Latin jazz pieces, the second tribute in November featured hard bop tunes from the 1950s. December will then mainly feature jazz ballads, with the pieces coming predominantly from the Great American Songbook. The jazzy cadenzas will be played through the colorfully illuminated Reaktorhalle, with the laboratory manager slipping into the role of the jazz saxophonist and, with the help of play-alongs (pieces are professionally recorded on CD), playing around two hours from the extensive jazz repertoire of jazz that is now 100 years old.
While the first event on October 10 was still more of an insider tip, the ETK was sold out to the last seat on the second date in November. It is therefore no longer possible to secure a seat without booking in advance. By the way, admission is of course free.
