BMBF project launched to promote personnel and recruit young talent for the Upper Lusatian economy.
Prof. Dr. Matthias Schmidt (Organizational Psychology) and Mike Altmann (Managing Director of Lausitz Matrix e.V.) received the BMBF funding notification for 390,000 euros on Monday, 19.01.2015 for the promotion of personnel and the recruitment of young talent for the Upper Lausitz economy.
The Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Thomas Rachel, traveled to Görlitz for the event. Members of the Bundestag Thomas Jurk and Michael Kretschmer, the head of the education and sports office in the district of Görlitz, Marlies Wiedmer-Hüchelheim, Prof. Schmidt from the HSZG and project manager Mike Altmann joined the State Secretary to launch the project, which will now be implemented in the district of Görlitz until the end of 2017 as part of the federal JOBSTARTER plus program. 390,000 euros in funding will flow into the region for the project, which aims to create a regional training network as part of "Talenteschmiede plus". Small and medium-sized companies in particular will receive support in marketing and filling their training positions. In addition to scientific support, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences provides many methods and interventions from the field of communication and organizational psychology.
The project team wants to build up a sustainable support structure in cooperation with chambers, employment agencies, job centers, vocational schools and other partners so that companies can also successfully train young people with poorer starting conditions. To this end, methods from personnel psychology will be networked with new media in order to achieve improved "matching". Colleagues from computer science will also be involved in the development of this career interest and skills facet app.
The JOBSTARTER plus projects support small and medium-sized enterprises with specific services in all matters relating to vocational training, thereby helping to secure a skilled workforce. The program is implemented by the JOBSTARTER program office at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIB).
