The "JuBReg" / "YVA" project promotes the participation of young people in structural change against the backdrop of the Act on Structural Strengthening of Coal-Mining Regions and the Lausitz 2050 Development Strategy. Through a variety of participatory formats, high school students, college students, and apprentices are encouraged to explore their region in a way that allows them to identify more strongly with it and, as a result, develop prospects for staying or returning. A region worth living in within the Germany-Czech Republic-Poland border triangle is a European one and requires the perspective of young people. That is why, in addition to the Lausitz mining region, the project focuses on the Neisse Euroregion to develop a cross-border vision of the future in light of structural change. Participatory formats such as Youngster Agency, Future Camps/Productions, Future Guides, and Future Congress actively involve the younger generation in shaping the transformation processes. In doing so, they gain a clearer picture of their own future opportunities within a shared living and working space in Lausitz and the tri-border region. As a European coal-mining region, Lausitz and the Dreiländereck are intended to become—from the perspective of young people as well—an attractive model region for sustainability in the economy, society, and culture, and thus an embodiment of a successful Green Deal.

In this context, the position holder (m/f/d) will be responsible in particular for the following tasks:

• Organizing and implementing project management,
• Coordinating and implementing communication and the division of labor within the consortium,
• Organizing the recruitment and retention of HSZG faculty and students for and within the project,
• Supporting and helping to shape the project’s events,
• Collaborating on the preparation of the planned survey of students and faculty, and
• Collaborating on publications and public reporting on the project (including the website and social media)—including reporting to the project sponsor.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• a successfully completed college degree in the humanities, cultural studies, or Social Sciences (at least a bachelor’s degree),
• Practical experience in managing externally funded projects in the areas of research and knowledge transfer,
• interest in and knowledge of the region (Upper Lusatia) and its structural transformation, as well as forms of participation in it.

In addition, the following are desirable:

• proficiency in English and, if applicable, knowledge of other foreign languages (particularly Polish and/or Czech),
• experience with collaborative projects,
• experience in the field of political (youth) education and participation, as well as in event organization.
