Research Associate (m/f/d)

for a fixed term ending June 30, 2027.
The position holder will work on research projects related to the electrical engineering characterization of novel materials, specifically:
- Conceptual and technical planning of the experiments necessary to achieve the project objectives, in coordination with the project team,
- Determination of fundamental properties (complex permittivity, loss factor, volume resistivity, short-term electrical strength) of the materials produced by the team,
- Determining resistance to aging, resistance to creep path formation, and erosion via creep current resistance and arc testing,
- Preparation of interim and final reports, as well as presentation of these reports during the course of the project,
- Participation in the preparation of scientific papers for international and national proceedings, conferences, and meetings, as well as their presentation and discussion.
The following knowledge and skills are required
- Preferably a scientific college degree (Diplom, Master’s, or accredited Master’s from a university of applied sciences) in the field of electrical engineering,
- Experience in the design and construction of high-voltage test stands and the independent conduct of experiments,
- Ability to independently discuss scientific topics with industry partners and other research institutions (universities, research centers),
- Proficiency in spoken and written German and/or English (B2 level),
- Communication and presentation skills for presenting and discussing results in expert forums (conferences).
In addition, the following are desirable:
- Experience in writing technical test and experiment reports,
- Experience using MS Office, LabVIEW, and/or Python.

Compensation is based on Pay Grade 13 of the TV-L if the candidate holds a scientific university degree and meets the other personal requirements ; if the candidate holds a university degree as a Diplom-Ing. (FH), A Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, classification will be based on a graduated scale of requirements up to Pay Grade 12 of the TV-L. The primary place of employment is Zittau.
