At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a part-time position (20 hours/week) is available subject to the provision of funds in the research project "Thermochemical Hydrogen Compressors for Efficient Energy Systems (Hy Comp)" at the earliest possible date as a

"Research assistant (m/f/d)

- Reference: 31_2024 -M-Hydrogen compressors -

to be filled for a limited period until 31.12.2025 .

The activities of the job holder include in particular work on the following research tasks:

Preparation of a study on available waste heat potentials in Upper Lusatia for the operation of thermal hydrogen compressors in companies in the region,
mathematical modeling of the heat transport between the waste heat source and the storage medium in the thermal compressor,
Carrying out supplementary numerical simulation calculations with Comsol Multiphysics for concept development,
Conducting accompanying experimental investigations in the thermodynamics and thermal engineering laboratory for selected heat transport phenomena,
Support in project management, preparation of reports and presentation of results.

The following knowledge and skills are required

Completed university degree in energy and environmental engineering, focus on renewable energy technology or thermal engineering,
Experience in mathematical modeling of components of thermal energy systems,
Experience in working in thermal engineering laboratories and in planning and carrying out experimental studies,
Experience in the field of numerical simulation of flow and heat transfer processes (preferably with COMSOL Multiphysics),
Experience in the preparation of reports and presentations (R&D results).
