Recommendations of the Network of Childhood Education Programs in Saxony for the resumption of daycare operations.
On May 9, the Network of Childhood Education Study Programs in Saxony published recommendations for the resumption of operations in daycare facilities from a pedagogical and developmental psychological perspective. The recommendations are aimed at the responsible ministries of the Free State of Saxony, public and independent youth welfare organizations as well as political representatives and the professional public. The occasion is the resumption of restricted regular operations in daycare facilities on May 18, 2020.
The transition of daycare facilities to restricted regular operation is an important step for parents and children, but is a challenge for both the children and the educational professionals. Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Andrea G. Eckhardt
The (re)opening of child day care and child day care facilities is currently strongly determined by health and hygiene regulations. In addition to the health and hygiene aspects, however, particular attention must be paid to developmental and pedagogical aspects. With their recommendations, representatives of childhood education degree programs and degree programs with an elementary education profile in Saxony are now taking a position on the gradual opening of daycare facilities from a professional perspective.
The focus is on pedagogical and developmental psychological challenges as well as pedagogical options for shaping this process. The recommendations relate to three areas:
- Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Andrea G. Eckhardt, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences
- Dr. Samuel Jahreiß, Berufsakademie Sachsen - Staatliche Studienakademie Breitenbrunn
- Prof. Dr. Patricia Kröber, Hochschule Mittweida
- Prof. Dr. Ina Schönberger, Evangelische Hochschule Moritzburg
- Prof. Dr. Susanne Viernickel, Leipzig University
- Dr. Angelika Weirauch, Dresden University of Applied Sciences
- Prof. Ivonne Zill-Sahm, Evangelische Hochschule Dresden
