A festival "Without guarantee"

Once again this year, ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN is defying the severe restrictions imposed on art and culture by the pandemic. With "Ohne Gewähr - no guarantees " - the festival for contemporary arts, where the theme is almost the program under current conditions, celebrates its 15th anniversary from 20 - 29.08.2021!

As an  indispensable annual highlight in the European city of Görlitz-Zgorzelec, the festival raises topical issues that concern us as a society: In a world characterized by  contrasts, many things seem to be up in the air. A thousand possibilities, a thousand supposed truths, everything everywhere and at the same time. Everything can, nothing must. We don't want to commit ourselves, to remain noncommittal. How many unanswered questions can we deal with? What is the essence of the present? Has our world become too complex to give it order? The only certainty is that nothing is certain - everything is without guarantee.

From over 500 international applications, the experienced jury selected sixteen works of art. Some of these will be exhibited in a former—and nearly forgotten—polytechnic center for VEB Wärmetechnik at 54 Friedrich-Engels-Str. in Weinhübel, not far from the Kühlhaus. In addition, one of the works will once again be on display at the Kaisertrutz Museum this year. Visitors to ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN receive free admission to the Kaisertrutz, and conversely, visitors to the museum pay only half the admission price at ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN. One artwork is being highlighted in particular this year: Moritz Frei’s light art installation “I DON’T BELIEVE IN DINOSAURS” is on display on the exterior facade of the old Vier-Jahreszeiten Hotel near the train station.

In addition, from August 20–29, 2021, the festival offers a diverse supporting program featuring pop culture and discourse, with exciting lectures, interesting workshops, concerts, and raves. Among the highlights are: the STRE!FEN performance festival, Cyrkus Görlitz, TONG, Moglii, Murat Önen, Reka Zalan, and the TanzTageGörlitz—subject to change. The accompanying guided tours through the exhibition spaces are a special highlight.
