That was more than OK!

On October 16 and 17, 2021, the Upper Lusatia Career Days madetheir debutat Messepark Löbau —the region’s job, apprenticeship, and college fair. Over 100 regional organizations from the Görlitz and Bautzen districts showcased their offerings at the event. The focus was on filling open positions, ranging from apprenticeships and college programs to jobs.

Exhibitors were delighted to welcome over 2,100 targeted visitors. Many were looking for apprenticeship and college spots. But skilled workers were also on the hunt for new challenges, some of whom had come from far-off places and were now drawn back to their homeland. The offerings were rounded out by information on continuing education, career reorientation for working professionals, and startup consulting.

Of course, as one of the most important players in Upper Lusatia’s academic and business landscape, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences could not miss such an event. Together with other partner institutions, we presented our offerings at the joint booth of the SIEMENS ENERGY INNOVATIONSCAMPUS. Since the fair was aimed at people with diverse concerns and interests, the HSZG fair team was well-represented:

• David Sauer from the Startup Academy for those interested in starting a business,
• Heike Kallweit from the Human Resources Administration & Law division for job seekers,
• Alina Bulcsu from the Student Services & International Affairs division for prospective students,
• Sabine Scholz from the Research Office for those interested in research and technology transfer, and
• Nora Terlunen from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for those interested in collaboration on our dual KIA (sandwich-style) degree course.

This allowed us to address each person’s specific information needs and provide targeted counseling.

Our summary is therefore unanimous: "The Oberlausitzer Karrierteage were more than just OK!" The HSZG will definitely be there again.
