Break the ice for studying!
At the Kamenz Career Market 2021, many guests were interested in the courses offered by the HSZG.
The 2021 Career Fair took place outdoors on Saturday, July 10. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., around the control tower at the Kamenz airfield, interested students and their parents, as well as other interested visitors, had the opportunity to speak in person with more than 50 exhibitors about their companies, career paths, fields of work, and apprenticeship opportunities, and make new connections.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was there and attracted a lot of attention across the approximately 9,000 m² site with our strikingly designed university bus bearing the slogan “study here.” The university brought along two STEM Trail stations where students could test their skills and try things out for themselves.
According to the organizer, 1,250 visitors attended the Career Fair for career guidance. The HSZG counseling booth was good in terms of attendance. In numerous individual counseling sessions, students from various grade levels—and, in some cases, their parents—were informed about the diverse study opportunities available at our university.
"Particularly relevant on this day was the study information for pupils in grades seven to nine - including those with a secondary school leaving certificate - who can still obtain their university entrance qualification. It was important to communicate that the path to university is also open to them," reports Karen Kobelt.
”The person in charge of the Come-In Weeks at HSZG and the admissions counselor for the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences represented the university on site alongside her colleague Fred Haaser and had many interesting conversations. She believes that in-person events like these have been particularly important since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic for establishing personal contact with prospective students, because “during the counseling sessions, we were repeatedly able to break the ice regarding studying and connect personal interests with degree programmes at HSZG.”
