Together for equal opportunities
On February 27, 2020, 15 Equal Opportunities Officers from Saxony’s universities met to define common goals and present a unified position.
The equal opportunities officers and advocates at Saxony’s colleges and universities are organized into a state-level conference (LakoG). On Thursday, February 27, 2020, 15 of them met at our university to define common goals and present a unified position.
The now former Rector of our university, Prof. Alberecht, welcomed the participants. Over the course of several hours, complex issues were discussed, structured, and prioritized. Despite differences in the size, structure, and resources of the institutions, there are numerous overarching challenges, such as improving the understanding of gender equality work and the need to adapt legal regulations.
To ensure these do not remain mere declarations of intent, numerous ideas for implementation were developed. The goal is to draft a position paper for LakoG. To this end, another general assembly will be held later this year at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences.
