Top marks for Zittau's students

One of the undisputed advantages of the KIA (sandwich-style) degree course is the opportunity to earn a skilled worker or journeyman’s certificate while pursuing your degree. Since the apprenticeship now takes two and a half years instead of three and a half and is completed alongside the degree program, one can certainly see the catch.

It is therefore no small feat that our KIA students are once again drawing attention to themselves with outstanding achievements in this area as well. This year, we are particularly pleased that our KIA class of 2016 scored a triple victory and claimed the title of “Best in the Chamber”:

Felix Hegewald is studying automation technology and mechatronics at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and completed his apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician at BASF Schwarzheide GmbH. With a score of 93 points, he was named the top performer in his field in South Brandenburg.

Our KIA, Jan Hartung, completed his vocational training as an electrical systems installer at Highvolt Dresden GmbH and was one of 28 trainees in the Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) district to pass his skilled worker examination with a grade of “ ” (“very good”) . He graduated from the electrical power systems degree programme.

Valentin Reinhardt: The third member of the trio of good KIAs was Valentin Reinhardt. He is studying in the Automation Technology and mechatronics degree programme and was honored as the top candidate in the Electronics Technician training program specializing in energy and building technology in the Leipzig region at the journeyman’s graduation ceremony held at the Alte Handelsbörse in Leipzig, which was organized by the Leipzig Electricians’ Guild.

We are delighted for the award recipients and offer our heartfelt congratulations. Ultimately, this result is also a testament to the very good quality of the dual degree program at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
