Career and study orientation without borders

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences presents its own fields of work at the GEMINI project conference in Liberec.

On October 25, 2016, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences presented its wide range of offers for pupils at a conference in Liberec. The electrical engineering Olympiad "NEISSE-ELEKTRO" was presented as an exemplary event of cross-border cooperation between schools in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. Organized for the first time in 1995, the Olympiad has since been attended by more than a thousand pupils. Numerous events and workshops with pupils and meetings with teachers from the countries have been held since then. In the process, relationships have been forged across borders, but differences and obstacles have also been recognized.

The organizers of the conference work together in the GEMINI project ("eine GEMeinsame INIative"). They want to promote opportunities for pupils, apprentices, students and employers by offering advice in the field of cross-border career guidance. The labor market is to be recorded and presented as a regional area on both sides of the national border. Assistance and impulses will be passed on in further training courses for teachers and advisors as well as in joint camps with German and Czech pupils. Conferences will be held to facilitate the exchange and discussion of solutions. Handouts will be developed and made available for teaching staff, advisors and companies.
