Going to university is still a high priority for many young people. Those who have chosen the right course of study and are well qualified can look forward to positive prospects on the job market. The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Bautzen Employment Agency are now working even more closely together to help prospective and current students make a successful start to their careers. On March 31, 2017, Professor Friedrich Albrecht, Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, and Thomas Berndt, Chairman of the Management Board of the Bautzen Employment Agency, signed the cooperation agreement, setting out the main points of their collaboration.
"The cooperation is intended to make it easier for applicants to access higher education. The joint goal of the Bautzen Employment Agency and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is to ensure the success and quality of degrees while keeping the duration of studies short. Coordinated advisory services are also intended to prevent students from dropping out," says Professor Friedrich Albrecht.
Thomas Berndt adds: "The employment agency and university support young people throughout their studies, starting with orientation and continuing through to successful graduation and career entry. In order to secure the supply of skilled workers, we need both academically well-trained and professionally qualified young people."
To help prospective students choose the right course of study, the advisors at the Bautzen Employment Agency offer orientation and information events. Among other things, they are on site at the annual "Open University Day" and the "University Information Days" at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The Bautzen Employment Agency advises the academics of tomorrow on career choices, provides information about the job market, arranges jobs and supports them in their transition into working life.
Both cooperation partners work together at events such as the employment agency's university fair or the university's "Wanted" job fair.
Should difficulties or problems nevertheless arise during studies in individual cases, the Bautzen Employment Agency advises students who are in doubt or have dropped out. It provides information on alternative study and training options and helps with the search for a new study place or training position.
The employment agency advisors offer regular consultation hours at the university locations in Zittau and Görlitz. The dates are published on the university's homepage.
