Experience disability

On December 2, 2017, an event titled “Experiencing Disability” took place at the CityCenter Frauentor in Görlitz. Five students from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, enrolled in the "Studium Fundamentale"program, occupational therapist Andrea Rensinghoff from Witten, and adjunct professor Dr. phil. Carsten Rensinghoff from Witten hosted a “one-handed breakfast.” This allowed participants to experience the situation of people with hemiplegia, such as those who have suffered a stroke.

In addition, visitors were able to experience perceptual disturbances while drawing a star in a mirrored box. The star was visible only in the mirror. The organizers were pleased with the high level of participation. A big thank you goes to the management of the CityCenter Frauentor, the Sternenbäck bakery for donating the rolls, and the Niesky Diabetics’ Self-Help Group for providing butter and jam.
