People at the center of work systems
New: HSZG students can now take a "Basic MTM" course as an additional qualification. This method establishes a standard for high-performance work systems that focus on people and their work.
Starting in 2021, the Department of Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Measurement Technology, and Quality management in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the MTM Institute in Zeuthen, will offer a two-week “Basic MTM” course for students. This gives HSZG students another opportunity to earn an attractive additional qualification that is in high demand in the workforce.
MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) is an analytical tool for describing, structuring, designing, and planning work systems using defined process modules, and is thus a standard for high-performance production systems. When applying MTM, all movements performed by humans are broken down into specific basic movements for which the required time is known.
Numerous companies use MTM as a method in process planning, e.g., Airbus Deutschland GmbH, Audi AG, Robert Bosch GmbH, and many others. A prerequisite for successful application is appropriate certification. A certified MTM degree is therefore in high demand among companies.
MTM is used, in particular, to establish a standard for high-performance production systems. People and their work are at the center of this approach. The application of MTM creates optimal processes and workflows under ergonomically optimized conditions. This automatically results in the most economically efficient execution of the work task.
MTM process modules can be applied wherever task-oriented human work is planned, organized, and carried out. This can include work systems in mass, serial, and small-batch production, as well as in administrative areas. The MTM methodology can also be applied in the field of care and the optimized design of age-appropriate living situations. The “BASIC-MTM” course consists of the process modules MTM-1 and MTM-UAS. Who is this additional qualification suitable for?
Given its range of applications, the “Basic MTM” course is particularly useful for students in the following degree programmes:
- Business Administration
- Integrated Management and Integrated Management Systems
- communication psychology
- management of social change
- Mechanical Engineering (including Diplom or master’s degrees)
- Social Gerontology
- Engineering Management
