People at the center of work systems

New: HSCG students can now take a "Basic MTM" course as an additional qualification. This method creates a standard for efficient work systems that focus on people and their work.

The Department of Production Engineering, Production Metrology and Quality Management at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is offering a 2-week "Basic MTM" course for students from 2021 in collaboration with the MTM Institute in Zeuthen. This will give HSZG students another opportunity to gain an attractive additional qualification that is in demand in practice.

MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) is an analytical tool for describing, structuring, designing and planning work systems using defined process modules and is therefore a standard for efficient production systems. When using MTM, all movements performed by humans are traced back to certain basic movements for which the time required is known.

Numerous companies use MTM as a method in process planning, e.g. Airbus Deutschland GmbH, Audi AG, Robert Bosch GmbH and many more. The prerequisite for successful application is a corresponding qualification. A certified MTM qualification is therefore in demand by companies.

MTM is used in particular to create a standard for efficient production systems. The focus is on people and their work. By using MTM, optimal process and work sequences are created under ergonomically optimized conditions. This automatically achieves the best economic implementation of the work task.

The MTM process modules can be used anywhere where process-oriented human work is planned, organized and carried out. These can be work systems in mass, series and small series production, but also in administrative areas. The MTM methodology can also be applied in the area of care and optimized design of age-appropriate living situations. The "BASIC-MTM" course consists of the process modules MTM-1 and MTM-UAS. You can find additional information in the video presentation:

Who is the additional qualification suitable for?

Due to the possible applications, the "Basic-MTM" course is particularly useful for students of the following degree programs:

When does it start?

It is planned to offer the courses at the end of the examination period of the winter semester in February. For further information on the "Basic-MTM" courses and to register, please contact: Prof. Dr. Martin Sturm
