On the way to certification as a "family-friendly university" with the associated target agreement, the HSZG completes several workshops.
Work-life balance: how can I reconcile my studies, career, family and private life? This is an increasingly central question, also at universities, which regularly concerns not only employees but also students in particular.
This is also the case at the HSZG. In recent months, various questionnaires have been completed and a number of discussions held in order to find out the current status of family friendliness with regard to families and the care of relatives: in other words, what is available for students and employees so far and where do we need to gain significant momentum in order to make the HSZG more attractive as an employer, but also to attract new students and employees. The service provider "berufundfamilie", which will provide advice and support for the next three years with the certification as a "family-friendly university" and carry out the certification together with us on the basis of eight fields of action, was also present.
Ms. Arnold, the auditor from berufundfamilie, accompanied us from the very beginning and also led us through the two workshops, which took place on 28.09.2023 and 25.10.2023. In the first workshop, the so-called strategy workshop, all participants shared their wishes and goals and specific terms such as 'family' and 'leadership' at the HSZG were defined. In the second workshop, the auditing workshop, we developed the goals and measures for the eight fields of action of the family-friendly university. An extremely exciting exchange developed, especially in the auditing workshop between students and employees from faculties, departments, staff units and representatives of the HSZG, which showed that even simple measures in communication lead to a better understanding on all sides.
In the next step, all objectives and measures are finally defined with the participants in the so-called target agreement for the university before they are presented to the Rectorate and Senate. Once the Rectorate and the service provider berufundfamilie have given their approval, the certificate is issued for three years and the implementation of the objectives begins. We have already formed a team of various groups for this purpose, which is actively working on the implementation with Ms. Schwarze as project manager. If you have any further questions about certification or suggestions regarding family friendliness, please contact Ms. Schwarze at any time.
