As an expert in the state parliament

Prof. Dr. Hoff consulted by the Saxon State Parliament's Enquete Commission as an expert on the further development of the quality of care in Saxony.

Prof. Dr. Hoff, Professor of Social Gerontology and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, was heard as an expert at the 5th session of the Enquete Commission "Ensuring the provision and further development of quality in the care of older people in the Free State of Saxony" on September 2, 2016. The hearing, which was attended by members of all parties represented in Saxony's state parliament, focused on issues relating to the compatibility of care and work. Specifically, Prof. Dr. Hoff commented on the current and future status of family caregivers, factors influencing the successful reconciliation of care and work, the need for political action regarding the compatibility of care and work, the possibilities and opportunities of using assistive technologies to compensate for a lack of care resources, as well as the current status and future development of geriatric care in Saxony.

The discussion of specific issues and recent research findings on the compatibility of care and work is also the focus of the Master's in Social Gerontology at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The Master's in Social Gerontology begins every year in the summer semester. The next enrolment period ends on January 15, 2017; teaching starts at the beginning of April 2017.
