Shanghai adventure

Three HSZG students start the winter semester at Tongji University thanks to an international exchange program.

CDHAW's international exchange program opens up new perspectives for prospective engineers.

The winter semester 2025/26 got off to an extraordinary and exciting start for three students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at our university.

As part of the CDHAW (Chinese-German University of Applied Sciences) exchange program, Jonas Nenke, Jonas Kölbel and Kevin Thieme ( automation and mechatronics) started their semester at Tongji University in Shanghai.

Jonas Kölbel and Kevin Thieme decided to spend a semester abroad, while Jonas Nenke will spend two semesters in Shanghai to obtain a double degree in mechatronics.

In addition to lectures and laboratory projects, the focus is on getting to know the language, country and culture. The students will use their free time to experience Chinese traditions, try out culinary specialties and use their first language skills in everyday life. Their first impressions of Shanghai are characterized by enthusiasm and fascination.

Prof. Worlitz from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science' and subject coordinator for mechatronics at CDHAW, as well as Prof. Meißner, met our three students in person at Tongji University in October. Prof. Meißner was giving lectures at Tongji University at the time as part of the teaching export program. At the meeting, the HSZG students reported on their thoroughly positive experiences during their stay.

As a member of the DHIK, the HSZG is one of the consortium universities that enables its students to study not only in China, but also in Mexico and India, thus opening up a wide range of international perspectives.

Interested students can obtain further information from the HSZG International Office or directly from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science'.

What's behind it!

The Chinese-German University of Applied Sciences (CDHAW) is a project of the German University Consortium for International Cooperation (DHIK). The DHIK is an association of 38 universities in German-speaking countries that jointly run exchange and double degree programs with foreign universities in the applied engineering sciences. The CDHAW is a largely independent institution within Tongji University in Shanghai/China.
