Smart grids are a key component in successfully addressing the challenges of the so-called energy transition. All components of the energy system are interconnected to ensure efficient system operation in the face of a growing number of decentralized generation facilities—such as renewable energy sources.

Students in the electrical power systems degree programme—with its two specializations, Intelligent Networks and Systems and Renewable Energy Systems—can gain hands-on experience with the challenges of smart grids in this lab.

It is no wonder, then, that the handover of the lab by the equipment supplier was met with great interest from the faculty and staff of the department.
