We are all aware of the challenges facing the world. Nevertheless, the consensus reached at the conference was that, at its core, every person needs a sense of empowerment that comes from within—an intrinsic drive—which also gives everyone the feeling that they can make a difference and bring about something new.
Design complex algorithmic machines in such a way that their use does not control you, but rather touches you like a good work of art. In this way, you will set yourself in motion, see yourself as the architect of a new reality, and—supported by the deep-rooted nature of this experience of values within the community as a whole—rise above your own limitations. |
New insights into the brain’s unimagined plasticity shed light on the power with which we can be moved by something that even neuroscience has not yet thoroughly investigated: human values. This is underpinned in ways not previously considered by findings in physics and information theory. Based on many years of collaboration with neuroscientist Gerald Hüther and current research projects involving the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Sophia Keil), the following conclusions emerge:
The goal of this public university lecture is to develop an understanding of these connections within the context of engineering practice and to illustrate them with examples. A further goal is to bring this perspective into the broader societal discourse.
