Nanotechnology - The "very small" with a big impact

In the 2025–26 school year, the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences will once again open its digital lecture hall to high school students. A series of online lectures will cover key chemistry topics relevant to the curriculum—presented clearly by experienced educators and supplemented with current research connections. This provides a dynamic insight into the exciting questions and methods of modern chemistry. School teachers are also cordially invited!

This time:
Nanotechnology operates at the interface between micro- and molecular structures. The course introduces the “bottom-up” (e.g., nanotubes) and “top-down” (e.g., nanoelectronics) approaches. This is complemented by typical synthesis methods such as atomic layer deposition (ALD). This highlights the enormous significance of nanotechnology for modern applications.
