Solution variants for the teaching material-time problem in engineering teaching
The increasing abundance of teaching/learning content and the limited teaching time have long been a concern for university lecturers. Engineering education has dealt intensively with this problem and developed various solutions.

This short online workshop examines the discussions within the Dresden engineering education community regarding the “curriculum-time problem” and explores their relevance for contemporary university-level engineering education. The workshop explains the foundational concepts of Hering, Lichtenecker, and Lohmann, as well as their ideas regarding course content and instructional structure. In addition, specific approaches will be presented, such as the systematization of educational content according to stages of knowledge formation and the functions of content for the practice of engineering, philosophical categories for structuring goal-oriented paths to knowledge and curriculum selection, as well as exemplary teaching and learning methods.
