Laboratory didactics

Working with experiments can serve a wide variety of didactic functions in engineering education, but this also requires different design approaches. Of particular interest here is the integration of experiments into the various pathways of knowledge discovery. This continuing education program addresses key factors and decision-making areas in the didactic planning of laboratory work, classifies types of experiments in the teaching-learning process, and identifies didactic requirements for experiments depending on how they are embedded in the structures of knowledge acquisition. Based on this, support systems for students’ laboratory-based learning activities are developed.

Learning Objectives

Participants

• will be familiar with fundamental contextual factors and decision-making areas for the didactic planning of laboratory work.
• can classify experiments according to various criteria and are familiar with key requirements for experiments in the teaching-learning process
• are familiar with fundamental methods of knowledge acquisition and are able to functionally situate experiments within these methods, thereby structuring laboratory work from an epistemological perspective.

Schedule

The continuing education program consists of 8 AE of in-person instruction, with 4 AE each on July 4 and 5, 2023. Online participation is possible via hybrid events.
