A keynote speech by Raj Kollmorgen (HS Zittau/Görlitz) with comments by Timm Beichelt (EUV), Dagamara Jajesniak-Quast (EUV) and Amelie Kutter (EUV). Moderation: Anja Hennig (EUV)

The struggle for the "Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation" catapulted the concept of transformation back into the spotlight. The IFES, on the other hand, as the successor to the "Frankfurt Institute for Transformation Studies (FIT)", had moved away from the modernization-theoretically informed analysis of socio-economic transformation processes, especially in Central and Eastern Europe after 1989, and agreed on a critical view of Europeanization processes on a "glocal" scale.

With this last colloquium date in the summer semester 2023, we now cordially invite you to discuss the content of transformation approaches for the analysis of social - and thus also socio-ecological and economic change - in the light of new crisis contexts: To what extent are the transformation processes in Central and Eastern Europe also suitable as a reference for the actual dynamics of social change or those demanded in view of the climate crisis? And to what extent do we need conceptual readjustments or "only" a new understanding of transformation?
