Research from Zittau Meets Business: HSZG at the Transfer Forum 2026

Under the title “Application-Oriented Research for Saxon SMEs,” the Transfer Forum brings together researchers from Saxony’s five universities of applied sciences with representatives from the regional business community. The focus is on current research approaches, concrete applications, and, above all, the question: Where can scientific ideas give rise to new collaborations and joint projects?
Process Heat Storage Systems Made in Zittau
On behalf of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Meinert from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will provide insights into research on thermal energy storage systems. In his presentation titled “Process Heat Storage Systems from Zittau—Efficient and Cost-Effective, ” he will demonstrate the potential that innovative storage solutions offer for industrial applications.
Research at HSZG focuses, among other things, on harnessing industrial waste heat, providing energy with flexible timing, and thereby increasing the energy efficiency of thermal processes. The Transfer Forum offers companies the opportunity to learn about these approaches and engage directly with researchers to discuss potential applications and collaborations.
In addition to the presentation by the HSZG, researchers from other Saxon universities will present their projects. Afterward, there will be time for networking. In addition, participants can choose one of three guided tours at HTW Dresden—through the Industry 4.0 model factory, the VR lab for building systems technology, or the TestHUB for flood protection elements.
