Electrical engineering colloquium "EMC simply explained: basics and relevance"

Begin 20. May 2026 - 14:00 Uhr
End 20. May 2026 - 15:30 Uhr

Speakers: Markus Thoss and William Maloumby from Würth Elektronik

Content: Mr. Thoss and Mr. Maloumby provide a compact and practical overview of the basics of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The event provides a clear explanation of what EMC means, how it came about historically and which legal requirements must be observed.

You will learn about the relationships between EMC transmitters and receivers and find out why every conductor can act as an antenna. In addition, key aspects such as interference emission, interference immunity and the economic significance of EMC are explained in a comprehensible manner.

A special focus is placed on practical examples: Typical measurement setups are used to demonstrate radiated and conducted interference - including illustrative experiments on the effect of shielding and the influence of earthing.

Finally, we look at the question of what influence design has on EMC and which components can be used specifically to improve it.

Ideal for anyone looking for a sound introduction to EMC and who wants to take away practical knowledge for development, design or quality assurance.
