Dr. Monique Ritter gives a compact overview of the results of her dissertation in the lecture series at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. In her research, she investigated a dominant discomfort - "I'm actually open-minded, but..." - among white, German nursing staff and patients in (home) care for the elderly in eastern Germany when it comes to working with refugees, especially those perceived as black and/or Muslim. In her study, Dr. Ritter briefly shows perspectives on understanding this discomfort and outlines and derives implications for a change in practice.
