Citizens meet science - energy storage in the Zittau power plant laboratory

Marvel at the thermo-mechanical electricity storage prototype and talk to the researchers in the Zittau power plant laboratory.

Begin 17. November 2025 - 17:00 Uhr
End 17. November 2025 - 19:15 Uhr

You hear it everywhere: energy crisis, coal phase-out, storage for renewable energies. Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has traditionally always researched energy topics. It is currently also looking for solutions for a rapid conversion of the energy supply, away from fossil sources. You can marvel at this in the Zittau power plant laboratory: electricity storage in steam.

The thermo-mechanical electricity storage system does not require any rare earths and can absorb and release a lot of energy at short notice. Marvel at the prototype and talk to the researchers at the power plant laboratory.
