Visions of the future launches crowdfunding campaign

Görlitz students organize 8th festival for contemporary art under the theme "future:COMMONWEALTH".

The "ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015 - Festival for Contemporary Art " is a project with the vision of revitalizing unused space in Görlitz. Since 2007, students at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences have been volunteering
with passion and creativity to openly address vacant space in Görlitz.

Unused buildings in the city are made accessible and revitalized. The project offers regional, national and international artists a platform for their work. An accompanying program of workshops, performances, readings, dance, music and theater is intended to attract, integrate and inspire both locals and visitors to the city.

ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2015 will take place from 23.05.-30.05.2015 under the theme "future:COMMONWEALTH". The organizing team is made up of 13 students from the Bachelor's degree course in Culture and Management and the

as well as the Bachelor's degree course in Social Work. With the chosen theme, this year's festival focuses on the contrasts and the resulting similarities in the city. One of the most important aspects here is bringing together young and old as well as the city's residents and the asylum seekers who have moved in. The theme will not only be reflected in the festival's supporting program, but will also manifest itself in the workshops accompanying the exhibition. Here, young and old, residents and asylum seekers will come into contact across generations and create together - for a future in Görlitz.

This year, part of the financing for the festival will once again be realized via
"Crowdfunding".
Via www.startnext.com/zuvi, everyone has the opportunity to support the project with an amount of their choice at
until April 15. In return, there are unusual rewards such as a 1920s-style
photo shoot, a romantic candlelight dinner at the
venue "Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten" or bike rides on
extraordinary vehicles. Tickets, free drinks and
artist catalogs can also be purchased in advance.

The jury meeting for this year's artist selection took place in February on the premises of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Four "Artists in Residence", who will be on site from April 25, and twelve exhibiting artists from a total of five countries were selected from 200 applicants. The members of the jury were Ulf Großmann, Héctor Solari, Verena Andreas, Andreas Schanzenbach and Lydia Göbel.

The project is supported by the New Länder Fund of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
