Workshop on Start-Up Development successfully held
On May 13, 2019, the Neisse Network Mechatronics hosted a workshop on "Start-up Development" at the University Library in Zittau.
More than 20 international participants took part in this full-day event. In addition to Dalibor Pulkert from the startup incubator Outboxers in Prague and Antonín Ferdan from Lipo.ink in Liberec, David Sauer from the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz also shared fascinating insights on the topic of startup creation. The focus was primarily on the design and implementation of business models (business modeling) as well as on problem-solving and the development of compelling new customer-oriented ideas (design thinking methods).
In addition, participants learned a great deal about how and where emerging startups can obtain financial and substantive support, as well as how to find and attract business partners.
Simulation exercises, such as “The Flying Egg,” and the practical application of what was learned using the example of the “ideal wallet” gave participants a feel for key business elements and techniques and lent the workshop a team-building and results-oriented character. Participants had to solve problems in a practical setting, under time pressure and economic constraints, in randomly assigned groups. Here, not only the solution itself but also the approach taken to implement it was of crucial importance.
Special emphasis was also placed during this workshop on developing soft skills, establishing new contacts, and fostering intercultural exchange among the participants.
The workshop was overwhelmingly rated as very positive by the participants, and many expressed a desire for more events of this kind.
The workshop was part of the cross-border, ERDF-funded project “Development of a Cross-Border, Study-Integrated Network to Promote Entrepreneurship” / “Rozvoj přeshraniční akademické sítě pro podporu vzniku podniků,” which is being carried out by the Technical University of Liberec and Zittau University of Applied Sciences/Görlitz as part of the 2014–2020 cooperation program to promote cross-border collaboration between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic.
