At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG), Institute for Health, Ageing, Work and Technology (GAT), within the framework of the joint project "Establishment and development of a practical research center in the district of Görlitz to improve the quality of life of older people" (PFS-Görlitz) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the T!Raum Initiative Alterperimentale, a part-time position (26 hours/week) is available from 01.04.2025 as a

to be filled for a limited period until 31.03.2028.

The above-mentioned BMBF joint project Alterperimentale aims to better understand the current situation of older people in the districts of Oder-Spree, Spree-Neiße and Görlitz and to support and improve their living situations. The project in the district of Görlitz is a cooperation between the HSZG and the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin (KHSB). The project focuses on research into supporting older people, family caregivers and care institutions through technological innovations. The aim of the sub-project is to set up a practical research center in Görlitz, where technological support options can be devised, tested and evaluated using co-creative processes. Together with regional stakeholders and older people, a network is to be established to strengthen age-related digital topics in the region and stimulate knowledge transfer. As a research assistant, you will play a key role in implementing this research and practice transfer project.

The position includes the following tasks in particular

  • Researching and, if necessary, familiarizing yourself with technological support options in old age,
  • Establishment of the practical research center in Görlitz,
  • Conception, implementation and evaluation of (co-creative) participative research formats,
  • Exchange and cooperation with the Alterperimentale network and other practical research centers (PFS Heinersdorf and PFS Cottbus),
  • Preparation of scientific publications and public relations work.

The main focus of activity is in the city of Görlitz and partly in the district.

 

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed scientific university degree, preferably in social science, social work, psychology, gerontology, human-computer interaction, sociology, regional development or similar courses of study,
  • Experience in the independent application of social science research methods and project work,
  • Class B driver's license.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Knowledge of social gerontology, regional development and/or human-computer interaction,
  • Knowledge of design thinking, co-creation and participation as well as science communication,
  • knowledge of agile collaboration and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary and conceptual manner
  • very good organizational and, in particular, communication skills with civil society and municipal stakeholders,
  • Confidence in using modern information and communication technology,
  • very good knowledge of standard Office applications and a willingness to familiarize yourself with new technologies,
  • Gender and diversity competence and
  • Knowledge of and, if possible, (research) experience with the rural area of the district of Görlitz as well as knowledge of the regional characteristics.
